        Once there was a black and white cat. He was named Tom.
        One day he was asleep under a tree in the forest. Suddenly he was awaked by the song of a bird. Then he was very hungry. He wanted to have something good to eat .
        He looked around. He looked up at the blue sky and looked down at the green grass. Something was moving in the tree. It was a sparrow.
        He talked to the sparrow and asked it to be friends with him. When it came near, he caught the sparrow. He was going to eat it. The sparrow said, "No gentleman eats his dinner till he has washed his face."
        The cat was surprised to hear that. He began to wash his face with his paw, and the sparrow flew away.
        The cat was sorry to lose his dinner and said, "As long as I live, I will eat first and wash my face afterward."

TEST 27.
Last week my family and I spent a few days vacation in Kaohsiung. While there we visited many interesting places. Last Monday we visited an oldtemple and Kaohsiung Harbor. On Tuesday we drove to see an exciting baseball game. Every evening we ate dinner at a small restaurant. Yesterday afternoon we returned to Taichung. The whole family enjoyed the vacation very much.

        In my country there are four season in the year. They are winter, spring, summer, and fall. The girls wear different clothes for every season. In the winter it is very cold. We need heavy sweaters and wool skirts. In the snow we need heavy coats, too. We like spring. We take off the heavy sweaters then. We take off our heavy coats, too. In the spring we wear light skirts. The weather often changes in the spring. It's not hot and it's not cold. In the summer we put on light clothing. We need cool clothing. The weather does not change very much. It's hot.
        It is cool in the fall. The weather often changes. Girls wear light coats and sweaters. Fall weather is nice.
        Every season is nice. I like them all.
